  1. To which countries can I call using the Reliance iCall services?
    You can call over 200 countries using the Reliance iCall service. To find out the countries and the call rates click here.
  2. What are the system requirements for Reliance iCall?
    Minimum system requirements for using Reliance iCall are as follows:
    • Windows 7, Vista, XP, NT or 2000 (we do not support Windows 95/98/Me and Linux systems)
    • MAC OS X version Leopard 10.5.X and above.
    • At least 256MB RAM
    • A microphone, sound card, and speakers
    • Intel Pentium-class processor (1.0GHz or higher)
    • A non-proxy connection to the Internet
    • Internet Explorer (version 6.0 or later), Safari for MAC
    • A broadband Internet connection is recommended, though not necessary.
  3. I forgot my password how can I retrieve it?
    To retrieve your password, click on the “forgot your password” link in the login area. You would be redirected to the password retrieval page where you need to put your username and choose the correct hint question and answer it correctly. You can then set a new password for your Reliance iCall account.
  4. I am having trouble signing in to my Reliance iCall account, what can I do?
    This can be due to following reasons:
    • Your PC is behind firewalls/proxy/NATting.
    • You haven’t received the activation mail after registering for Reliance iCall, which may take few more minutes. You can try to login once you receive the activation mail on your registered email id.
    If you still cannot login to your account then leave your comments in the feedback section and we will get back to you.
  5. Can I block other Reliance iCall users from contacting me?
    To block a user, right click on the contact you want to block, in your Contact list and select the option “Block”.

    You can also block a specific phone number from reaching you by specifying the number by clicking the “Call Block” link in the “Action” section of the Reliance iCall soft-phone.

    To unblock the blocked users, right click on the contact and select option “Unblock”.

    You can unblock a blocked phone number by clicking the “Call Block List” link of the “View” section in the Reliance iCall soft-phone.
  6. How can I change the font size, color on my chat window?
    In the chat window, click on the font option to change the font style or size of the text and click on the set color option to change the color of the text.
  7. How can I buy Reliance iCall credits/ talk time?
    You can buy Reliance iCall credit/ talk time by logging in to your Reliance iCall account & then clicking on the Recharge tab of “My Account”.
  8. How can I view my call records?
    You can view call records by logging in to your Reliance iCall account & then clicking on the View Usage tab of “My Account”.
  9. In what currencies does Reliance iCall accept payments?
    Currently, Reliance iCall accepts payments only in US dollars (US$).
  10. How can I check the account balance amount in my Reliance iCall account?
    You can check the account balance amount by logging in to your Reliance iCall account.
  11. How can I change my password stored with Reliance iCall?

  14. On trying to call India why do I get “This Call is blocked”, message?
    Please check whether you are using Reliance iCall services through a private IP. Reliance iCall does not support calls to India through Private IP, due to regulatory issues. The status of the IP address allocated to you can be provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
  15.  Can I call any landline or mobile within India using Reliance iCall?
    Currently calls made from Reliance iCall in India to any landline or mobile within India will not be successful, due to regulatory issues. You can receive and make international calls from India to 200 other countries.

  1. What is Reliance iCall?
    Reliance iCall is a VoIP based international calling service which helps you make voice calls easily across the world using your PC. You can make free PC to PC calls along with affordable PC to Phone and Phone to PC calls with immediate access to value added services like instant messaging, audio conferencing and many other multimedia features.
  2. What is VoIP based service?
    VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, which is synonymous with Internet telephony. Services such as Reliance iCall carry your voice on the internet platform.
  3. What are the benefits for using Internet Telephony service?
    Free voice usage between PC to PC, low call rates and a whole host of great features like chatting, conferencing, call forwarding etc at no extra cost.

    Using the Reliance iCall service is simple and easy. You can register for the service from any country by following a few easy steps:
    • Click on the “Sign Up” tab & fill up the registration form.
    • A confirmation email will be sent to your registered email id with a service selection link.
    • Click on the link and you will be directed to the service selection page on the website.
    • Select the service from the drop down menu.
    • After selecting the service, you will get an activation email containing your user- name and password on your registered email id.
    • After receiving the activation mail you can login to your account.
    • To start using any of the services you have to download the soft phone by clicking on this link DownLoad or clicking the download tab on the homepage.
    • After downloading the soft phone, just login using your user-name and password and make/receive calls, chat and much more,
  8. How do I place a call using the Reliance iCall?
    • To make free PC to PC calls
      • Both you and your friends need to register for the service and download the Reliance iCall soft phone.
      • Add your friends in the contacts list and once they accept your invite start making calls by clicking the call button.
    • To make affordable international PC to Phone calls
      • Select the country you are calling and enter the phone number along with the area code and click on the call button.
      • You will hear the ringtone once the call gets initiated.
  9. How to answer a call?
    You can answer a call by clicking the green call button and reject/ hang-up up the call by clicking the red button.
  10. I forgot my password, how can I retrieve it?

  12. Why did I get disconnected during a call to a phone?
    Your calls might be getting disconnected due to either of the reasons.
    • There might be a problem in your internet connection.
    • Your account balance may have exhausted or may be too low to connect a call. You can check the account balance amount by logging in to the “My Account” section.
  13. How will I get to know that my friend has answered my call?
    When you initiate a call the call window of the soft phone will slide open and the time duration will start showing soon as your friend answers your call.
  14. When I am trying to call a particular number it is showing “This Call is blocked”, why is that?
    Reliance iCall does not support calls to all phone numbers in every country. Some of the specific numbers are blocked due to some issues and cannot be reached using Reliance iCall at this time.
  15. Can I send an SMS from my PC to any fixed line or Mobile phone?
    This function is currently not available with Reliance iCall.
  16. Can I block users contacting me?
    To block a user, right click on the contact you want to block, in your Contact list and select the option “Block”.

    You can also block a specific phone number from reaching you by specifying the number by clicking the “Call

    Block” link in the “Action” section of the Reliance iCall soft-phone.

    To unblock the blocked users, right click on the contact and select option “Unblock”.

    You can unblock a blocked phone number by clicking the “Call Block List” link of the “View” section in the Reliance iCall soft-phone.
  17. Does the receiver of call have to pay if I call him through Reliance iCall?
    No charges will apply to the receiver for accepting incoming phone calls from Reliance iCall.
    Note: In some countries like US customer is charged for both incoming and outgoing. So charges will apply for received calls on mobile phone in those countries.
  18. Can I sign in automatically to Reliance iCall?
    Yes, you can sign in automatically. You can enable this functionality by opting for ‘Sign me in automatically’ option before logging in. This functionality will sign you automatically the next time you start your PC.
  19. How can I change my ring-tone?
    You can personalize the Reliance iCall ring-tone by clicking the Actions tab and then selecting the change ring-tone option where you can the music file (mp3, wav or midi) from your computer and press OK to set the music as your ring-tone
  20. How can I add contacts to Reliance iCall?
    For adding contacts, click the ‘Contacts’ tab after logging in successfully. Click the “Add contacts” button and choose the type of contact you want to add. You can both add a phone number or user id and then enter the display name of the contact.
    A add contact request will be sent to the Reliance iCall user who you just added and the contact’s online status can only be seen once contact accepts your request.
    You can view the list of your contacts every time you login.
  21. How can I change my online Status?
    You can change your current online status that is displayed on the window by clicking on the status and then clicking on the option that you would like to be viewed by your contacts. You can also select the offline status to become invisible to your contacts.
  22. How can I delete a contact from the contact list?
    For deleting a contact from the contact list, right click on the contact and then select the ‘Delete’ option.
  23. What is “Do not disturb” service?
    If you don’t want to receive calls, click on the current status and select the “Do not disturb” option.
  24. Why can’t I record calls in MAC?
    The 'Record Calls' feature is currently not available for MAC users. This feature will be available shortly.

b. Incoming number

  1. What is an Incoming Number?
    Incoming Number is an online number given to your PC and it works like a normal local phone number of the country of purchase. Using this number you can receive calls on your soft phone absolutely free, no matter which country you are logged in from.
  2. How can I get an Incoming Number?
    Incoming number can be purchased either during the time of registration or by choosing to change service. You have to select “Phone-PC” or “All” service when you do service selection during registration. You will be given a specific Local Incoming Number of the country you have selected. Currently Incoming Number is available for UK and US.
    In case you had not selected “Phone-PC” or “All” during registration you can change your service to either of them and get an incoming number.
  3. Does my Incoming Number expire?
    Yes, the Incoming Number expires once the period for which you have purchased gets over.
  4. Can I renew my Incoming Number after its expiry?
    Yes, you can renew your Incoming Number by logging in to “My Accounts” and clicking the “Renew Incoming Number” tab in the “Incoming Number” section.
  5. For which countries are Incoming Numbers available?
    Currently Incoming numbers are available for UK and US only.
  6. Can a friend staying in a country different from my Incoming Number call me on my Incoming Number?
    Yes a friend can call you from any other country as Incoming Numbers are like phone numbers. Your friend will be charged ISD call rates by his local service provider.
  7. Can more than one Reliance iCall User use a single Incoming Number?
    A single Incoming Number cannot be used by more than one Reliance iCall user. Each Reliance iCall user is assigned a unique Incoming Number.
  8. Does the validity of the Incoming Number extend automatically?
    The validity of the Incoming Number does not extend automatically. You need to renew your Incoming Number by logging into your Reliance iCall account and clicking the “Renew Incoming Number” tab in the Incoming Number section.
  9. Can I get a new Incoming Number if I’m harassed?
    You cannot get a new Incoming Number once you have subscribed to the service and have been allotted a specific Incoming Number. If you are being harassed by any caller you can block them from calling you.

    To block a user, right click on the contact you want to block, in your Contact list and select the option “Block”.

    You can also block a specific phone number from reaching you by specifying the number by clicking the “Call Block” link in the “Action” section of the Reliance iCall soft-phone.

    To unblock the blocked users, right click on the contact and select option “Unblock”.

    You can unblock a blocked phone number by clicking the “Call Block List” link of the “View” section in the Reliance iCall soft-phone.
  10. Can I get an Incoming Number of a different country (from which I reside)?
    Yes, it is possible to have local incoming number of different countries regardless of where you are currently living.
  11. Can I forward calls to my Incoming Number?
    Yes, you can forward any call to your Incoming number as you would forward to any other normal phone number.
c. Call Forward
  1. What is call forwarding?
    Call forwarding is a feature that enables you to forward your calls to any other Reliance iCall account, mobile or landline number.
  2. How can I set up the call forwarding option for my account?
    You can set call forwarding option for all incoming calls by visiting the “Call Forward” section of “My Account”. For using the call forwarding service you need to be a subscriber of either Phone to PC service or All services.
  3. I have set up call forward option already, why isn't it working?
    If you've set up call forward you must ensure that you have sufficient prepaid credit in your account to forward the call. You can check your account balance by logging in the “My Account” section and purchase more credits in case the balance is low.

    If you have sufficient credit and the call isn't still getting forwarded please make sure that the number you are forwarding to is entered correctly.

    We do not charge for activating the Call Forward option, but you should have sufficient credit in your account when you forward an incoming call to the desired phone number. Each call forwarded is treated and charged in the same way as outgoing calls from your PC to another Reliance iCall account or phone.

    Note: Calls cannot be forwarded to phone numbers of certain countries like India, due to regulatory restrictions.
  4. Can I forward calls to any phone number of any country?
    Yes, you can forward calls to any phone number of any country, except where the country's regulatory authorities do not allow such services like India.
d. Instant Messaging
  1. Can I send instant messages to my friends using AOL/ICQ/Yahoo/MSN Messenger?
    Currently this facility is not available with Reliance iCall. You can send instant messages to other Reliance iCall users only.
  2. How can I change the font size, color on my chat window?
    In the chat window, click on the font option to change the font style or size of the text and click on the set color option to change the color of the text.
  3. How can I send instant messages/chat using Reliance iCall?
    On the Reliance iCall soft-phone click the “Contacts” section and click on the message icon (looks like an envelope). The chat window will appear immediately.
  4. My chat window got closed by mistake in the between a chat session, can I view my chat history.
    Yes, you can view the chat history for the same login session when you initiate the chat again with the same user.

e. Conference Call

  1. Can I make conference calls using Reliance iCall?
    Yes, you can make conference calls using Reliance iCall. You can connect up to 5 calls at the same time.
    You can take only one phone in conference in a single session.
  2. How can I start Conferencing?
    Initiate more than one call and once you are connected, select the calls you want to put in conference, by pressing the ‘Conference’ button displayed at the bottom of the active Calls window. You will be able to talk to all the selected calls and they will be connected with each other too. You can also put the contact you don’t want to talk on hold by pressing the hold button.      
    Please Note: The conference button appears when a minimum of 2 calls are connected. Also, you can take only one phone in conference in a single session.
    The start conference button changes into stop conference buttononce a conference call has been initiated. Click the stop conference button to discontinue the ongoing conference call.
  3. How can I remove a participant from an ongoing conference call?
    To remove a participant from an ongoing conference call, click the “Remove from conference” buttonto remove a call that you had put in conference. The rest of the calls that were in conference will remain there and you can continue talking to them. You can click the Add to conference button to put the removed call in conference again.
    The conference automatically stops if you keep removing the participants from the conference until just one call is left in the conference.

3. User Account

a. Payment Related
  1. What all information are needed while making credit card payments?
    The following credit card information are needed for making payments using credit card:
    • Card type (VISA/MASTER etc)
    • Card number
    • CVV Code
    • Expiry date
  2. Please enter valid credit card details for successful payment.
    Note: Your payment can fail due to incorrect personal details given during registration such as your name, card number, CVV code, mail id. The details need to match the details given at your credit card issuing bank.
  3. What is Card Verification Code (CVV)?
    The Card Verification Code, or CVV code, refers to the last 3 digits of the code mentioned on the reverse panel of your credit card (Visa, MasterCard, bank cards etc.) In case of American Express (AMEX) cards CVV is the last 4 digits of the code.
  4. The call rates are shown in US$, can I make a payment using my Indian credit card?
    Yes, you can use your Indian credit card for making payments. The conversion in rupees will be done by your credit card company.
  5. How can I buy Reliance iCall credits?
    You can purchase the Reliance iCall credits by logging in to your account and clicking the Recharge tab in the “My Account” section.
  6. How does Reliance iCall ensure my credit card details are stored securely?
    We use state-of-the-art security features like many other highly secured Internet sites. That is why certain areas of our site are accessible only after you login to the 'My Account' section. Your personal information is heavily encrypted as it travels from your browser to our server, and once it reaches us, it is safe behind multiple layers of security. In technical terms, we use SSL. Our website is VeriSign certified, as is the case with other trusted companies such as Symantec software, Fleet Online, ICICI Bank.
  7. What is VeriSign certified?
    Some financial institutions use an extra security step known as VeriSign certified to authenticate internet purchases. We are also VeriSign certified, hence for any payment related to our services, you will be redirected to our site in order to complete the purchase.
  8. I just purchased Reliance iCall Credit but I cannot make any calls?
    First, ensure that your account balance is positive.

    If the problem still persists, please try signing out from Reliance iCall and sign in again to check if your account balance is reflected perfectly.
  9. In what currencies does Reliance iCall accept payments?
    Currently, Reliance iCall accepts payments only in US dollars (US$).

  1. How can I view my call records?
    You can view call records by logging in to your Reliance iCall account & then clicking on the View Usage tab of “My Account”.
    You can view your call records by logging in to the My Account section of the website.
  2. Why do I need to register my details with Reliance iCall?
    Your details are captured at the time of registration for protecting your Reliance iCall account from fraud users. E.g. Email address will help us in confirming that you are the same person who you claimed to be at the time of registration. Both the confirmation mail and activation mail will be sent to your registered mail id.
  3. Can I change the email id which I used to register with Reliance iCall?
    Currently, you cannot change the email id which you used to register with Reliance iCall.
  4. What services are available after I login to my Reliance iCall account?
    Once you register to your Reliance iCall account you can:
    • View your call records and balance in your account
    • Change your password, change the service, edit profile
    • Renew Incoming Number
    • Opt for call forwarding
    • Recharge your Reliance iCall account
  5. How can I check the account balance amount in my Reliance iCall account?
    You can check the account balance amount by logging in to the “My Account” section.
  6. How can I change my password stored with Reliance iCall?
    You can change your Password by logging into the “My Account” section and clicking on the Change password tab.
  7. How can I view my profile details?
    You can view your profile details by logging in to the “My Account” section and clicking the Edit Profile tab.
  8. Can I change the user name of my Reliance iCall account?
    No, currently you cannot change the user name of your Reliance iCall account. For a new username you have to create a new account with Reliance iCall.
  9. Can I delete call records from my account’s history?
    Currently you cannot delete the items from the history. Call records will get deleted automatically once you sign out from the soft phone
  10. Can I register for more than one Reliance iCall account with the same e-mail id?
    You can register for more than one Reliance iCall accounts using the same e-mail id.
4. Voice quality
  1. Will I notice any improvement in call quality compared to other VoIP service providers?
    Yes, you should be able to perceive a distinct improvement in the voice quality as we route your calls through our own private network unlike others who carry voice over public network
  2. When I communicate using Reliance iCall, only one way sound is audible?
    The problem may be due to:
    Wrong sound device settings, if you can't hear the person you are calling or vice versa your sound device settings may not be configured correctly.
    • Low bandwidth internet: One-way sound can be caused as the caller may be using low internet bandwidth, e.g. Dial-up connections, satellite connections (that use dial-up or GPRS for upload) or low-priced ADSL packages.
    • Personal firewall software: Some personal firewalls may block access to Reliance iCall, due to the way these firewalls are designed. This may mean you can't connect, have poor call quality or one-way sound. Check your personal firewall settings and allow Reliance iCall to make outgoing calls and accept incoming calls.
  3. What should I do if one-way sound is audible?
    • Check if your microphone is muted. Some microphones have buttons to mute/un-mute. Check your volume.
    • Everyone in the call should check their device settings and make sure they can hear other sounds on their computers (e.g. while playing music).
    • You may have incorrect sound mixer settings. Check your sound card manual for correct settings of the sound device.
  4. I am facing poor sound quality what can be the possible reasons and solution to it?
    This problem can be due to:
    • Personal Firewall software: Some personal firewalls may block Reliance iCall access to the internet. Due to the way these firewalls are designed. This may mean you can't connect, have poor call quality or one-way sound. Check your personal firewall settings and allow Reliance iCall to make outgoing calls and accept incoming calls.
    • Other people affecting the network: If you use Reliance iCall within a corporate network, one-way sound may be caused because someone else in the network is affecting internet connectivity. It's quite hard to work out if this is the case, and if it is the problem, there's not a lot you can do about it. However, contacting your system administrator for help is a good idea.
  5. I don't have a microphone or headset. Can I still use Reliance iCall?
    You can use Reliance iCall services with your inbuilt microphone also. If you don’t have an in-built microphone then you can still use Reliance iCall for instant messaging. With instant messaging you can send and receive text messages with other Reliance iCall users.
  6. What do I do for ongoing echo problems?
    • Change the audio device being used by the person you are calling: If they switch from speakers to a headset, the sound quality should be much better.
    • Avoid using Speakers: Your microphone can pick up noise from your speakers, so if you use speakers, keep the volume low.
    Please Note: echo cancellation is affected by the level of background noise around you. It works best when you're in a quiet spot to begin with.
  7. How I can avoid background noise?
    To avoid background noise you can try to find a quiet location to call from. Move your microphone closer to your mouth and away from noise sources like your computer’s fan. Use high quality headsets and handsets. Built-in microphones in computers and webcams are more prone to picking up background noise.
  8. Can I test the voice quality of calls?
    Yes, you can test the voice quality of calls after logging into the Reliance iCall soft-phone. Click the ‘Actions’ tab and click the “Test Call” in the menu followed by “Make a Test Call” in the submenu. Follow the voice prompt instructions then start recording your voice for 30 seconds and listen to your voice to check the quality of voice.

    You can also initiate a test call directly from the Contacts list, where it has been added by default.
5. Call Rates
  1. Why was I charged if my call dropped?
    You will be charged for any call longer than 1 second.
  2. What are the call rates?
    PC to PC calling is free. To know the international call rates, click here
  3. Which of the offered services are chargeable?
    PC to PC calling is absolutely free. If you opt for PC to PHONE, PHONE to PC services then the charges apply accordingly.

  4. What are the call rates on roaming?
    Call rates will remain the same. Calling rates will only vary with the destination country not the country you are calling from. To know the applicable rates, click here
  5. Does the call receiver, if I call him using Reliance iCall?
    No charges will apply to the call receiver.
    Note: In Countries like US customer is charged for both incoming and outgoing. So charges will apply for received calls on phone in those countries.

  1. How do I contact Reliance iCall for any queries?

    No. You cannot participate in the “Guess the Celebration” contest unless you sign up for Reliance iCall.
  4. Can I participate in the “Guess the Celebration” contest more than once on the same day?
    No. You cannot participate in the “Guess the Celebration!” contest more than once on the same day.
  5. Can I participate every day in the “Guess the Celebration!” contest?
    Yes. You can participate in the “Guess the Celebration” contest every day to win free talk time.
  6. Can I edit my answer once it is submitted?
    No. The answer cannot be edited once you have submitted your answer.
  7. If I win the contest, how will I be informed about it?
    If you win the “Guess the Celebration” contest, you will receive an email containing the promo-code along with the instructions to avail the free talk time.
  8. For which calling service of Reliance iCall, can the promo code be used?
    The promo code can be used for the PC-Phone service only.

    Reliance iCall’s video call allows you to make and receive video calls by sending and receiving live video, using a webcam
  2. How can I start video call with Reliance iCall?
    For making a video call both the users should have webcams installed in their PC. You can start a video call from “Call phones” section by entering the user id and then pressing “Start Video” button.
  3. Can I start the video during an audio call with the same contact?
    You cannot start a video call during an ongoing audio call. In order to make a video call with the same contact, you have to disconnect the ongoing audio call and then start a new video call.
  4. Do I need a webcam to make and receive video calls on Reliance iCall?
    Yes, you need a webcam to make and receive video calls. If the webcam is not pre-installed then you need to install it before starting a video call.
  5. Which webcams are supported by Reliance iCall?
    Almost all PC-compatible webcams, except outdated models work with Reliance iCall.
  6. How much does it cost to have a video call?
    Reliance iCall’s video calling service is currently available absolutely free.
  7. Can I make simultaneous video calls?
    You can make only one video call at one time.
  8. Can I make an audio call to a 3rd contact during an ongoing video call?
    You can make an audio call to another contact while still being on an ongoing video call.
  9. Can I send message/chat using the instant messenger while on video call?
    Yes, you can send messages through the instant messenger to the same or other contacts while on video call.
  10. Will the speed of my internet connection affect the quality of my video calls?
    Yes, the quality of video call depends on the speed of your internet connection. Reliance iCall works best at a minimum internet speed of 256 kbps at both ends.

    If you are experiencing problems with video quality due to slow internet connection, we recommend:
    • closing other applications that use the internet, especially those playing music or video
    • cancelling any file transfers in progress
  11. Why does my Reliance iCall crash on my PC?
    Reliance iCall may crash due to outdated software drivers, Windows issues or application incompatibilities.
  12. Is video call available for Mac OS?
    Currently, video call is only available for Windows users. We are working to provide video call for Mac OS users, as well.
  13. Why am I not able to make or receive video call?
    Please check whether you are using Reliance iCall services through a public/private IP. Reliance iCall does not support video calls made through private IP. The status of the IP address allocated to you can be provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
